چکیده

In this paper a new non-coherent architecture for GNSS tracking loops is proposed and analyzed. A non-coherent phase discriminator, able to extend the integration time beyond the bit duration is derived from the Maximum Likelihood principle and integrated into a Costas loop. The discriminator is non-coherent in the sense that the bit information is removed by using a non-linear operation. By jointly using such a discriminator and non-coherent integrations at the Delay Lock Loop level, a fully non-coherent architecture, able to operate at low carrier-power-to-noise density ratio (C/N0), is obtained. The algorithms proposed have been tested by means of live GPS data and compared with existing methodologies, resulting in an effective solution for extending the total integration time.

An Enhanced Non-Coherent Pre-Filter Design for Tracking Error Estimation in GNSS Receivers

Tracking error estimation is of great importance in global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. Any inaccurate estimation for tracking error will decrease the signal tracking ability of signal tracking loops and the accuracies of position fixing, velocity determination, and timing. Tracking error estimation can be done by traditional discriminator, or Kalman filter-based pre-filter. Th...

Bandwidth Optimization of Carrier/Code Tracking Loops in GPS Receiver

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is the standard generic term for satellite navigation systems that provide autonomous geospatial positioning with global coverage. As of 2007, the United States NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS) is the only fully operational GNSS. Based on bandwidth optimization criterion, the GPS receiver is proposed for solving the carrier/code phase tracking pr...

Performance Improvement of Receivers Based on Ultra-Tight Integration in GNSS-Challenged Environments

Ultra-tight integration was first proposed by Abbott in 2003 with the purpose of integrating a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and an inertial navigation system (INS). This technology can improve the tracking performances of a receiver by reconfiguring the tracking loops in GNSS-challenged environments. In this paper, the models of all error sources known to date in the phase lock loo...

GNSS Receiver Implementation on a DSP: Status, Challenges, and Prospects

A real-time GPS L1 C/A-code software receiver has been implemented on a Digital Signal Processor (DSP). The receiver exploits FFT-based techniques to perform autonomous acquisition down to a threshold of C/N0 = 33 dB-Hz. Efficient correlation algorithms and robust tracking loops enable the receiver to track an equivalent of 43 L1 C/A-code channels in real time with a tracking threshold of 25 dB...
